| Name | Finley "Faraday" Devlin |
| Origin | AU Earth |
| Residence | Chroma City |
| Bonding Age | 31 |
| Gender | Female (she/her) |
| Species | Human (Super) |
| Height | 5'3" |
| Appearance | As above with a slim build (and generally terrible posture); she also seems to crackle with static-like sparks in the dark or in your peripheral vision, and when she lets her hair down, it rises as if she's holding onto a Van de Graaff generator! |
| Abilities | Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) Emission: When Faraday is nearby, electronic-based objects and systems just... stop working. Lights flicker, screens glitch or shut off, and fully-charged batteries drain to zero in her presence. The effect is temporary, wearing off once she is some distance away. Lasting effects are rare but possible, especially if Faraday touches an electronic device or lingers for an extended period of time in close proximity to one. |
| History | After a very unfortunate lightning-strikes-tongue-piercing incident, mild-mannered teenager Finley Devlin became a certified superhero. She took the moniker "Faraday" and prepared for a life of protecting the innocent... except it became apparent pretty quickly that her power wasn't useful in any notable way. To the contrary, it was a downright nuisance to her technologically-advanced home city. Shunned by her peers and using her last shreds of humour to cope, Faraday kept the ironic name, but left her home behind. She settled in Chroma City after drifting throughout most of her late teens and early twenties. The city's magic-infused technology is markedly less breakable than what she was used to back home (but not totally immune, much to her dismay). While she's still causing small outages and trying to get too attached to anyone in her new home, she's hoping she can find some way to temper her power and use it for some good while she's there. |
| Personality | At her core Faraday is bright, friendly and funny, but her penchant for breaking all things electronic leads her to extreme introversion. It's tough to make friends when your presence makes their personal devices go haywire. Seeing an old-school movie or going to the arcade with a social group is out, too; Faraday loves vintage films and games, but she's loath to cause damage to either. She also static-zaps everything and everyone she touches, whether she's been shuffling her feet on a carpet in low humidity or not. Add up all that, and her existence is pretty lonely. People tend to like Faraday regardless of her "power," but since she hates to inconvenience anyone, she tries to keep to herself as much as possible. Faraday's "happy place" is between the pages of a book. Paper is completely analog and doesn't conduct electricity, and in her solitude, Faraday has become a voracious reader. On a happy note, her new Terigon companions don't give a flying flux capacitor about electronics! They think the way their fur stands on end when Faraday gives them a zap is hilarious, and they even take turns bringing her library holds home for her so she doesn't have to risk causing an ILS outage. With companionship, Faraday has begun to open up just a little more. She's still hesitant to approach others, but her confidence in her own likability is growing. |
