Pre-Bonding ---
Starburst - 2 years before Bonding
I am exhausted. My clutchbrother Brand has become enough of a rival to me to become a threat, and wherever I have hidden myself, he has managed to find me. I have been at a loss for so long, and seemingly, I cannot continue with this ordeal for much longer.
So I decided upon something I would normally never even think of. Using every last drop of my magic, I have managed to shapeshift into a human. As much as the form is different, I must say that I can consider myself beautiful by human standards. I am taller than most, with long red hair and my much-loved green eyes. My body is bedecked in red clothing, a flowing red skirt and a strangely comfortable red top. I realize with a closer look that three red markings remain on my face, but with my magic drained, I cannot complete my transformation. The stripes seem to accent my eyes, anyhow, so I decide that they are not so terrible.
I spin around, revealing huge white feathers that emerge from my back. My wings! I cannot afford to have something so visible on my body, so I tuck them into my skirt. There! A glamorous piece of clothing, but it seems more appropriate than just leaving them sprouting from my lower spine.
My brother has wished, and I have heard him speaking of it, for me to leave Starburst forever. I can only hope that I will remain here, in my beloved home, and my brother will not find me in this form that I have given up my magical power for.
Starburst - 3 months before Bonding
I fear I cannot stay at Starburst any longer. Just yesterday, a man came out of nowhere and grabbed me, binding my wrists and ankles and tying a cloth over my mouth. I never saw his face, but I knew from the fear I felt that my brother had told him to do so. I was thrown like this into a bush in the woods, struggling, while the man left.
For the first time in over a year, I managed to gather my magic together and shapeshift into my beloved draconic form. The feeble cords snapped like threads. As soon as I could, I shifted into a human again to conceal myself from view. By this point, it was the middle of the night, and I was able to find my way back to Starburst.
I have decided to leave, as my brother wishes, although it pains my heart to do so. I jump onto the portal deck, out of view of the dragonrider on duty. In my haste, I leapt into the nearest vortex, bothering not to look at the sign above it.
So my brother's wish has come true. I am filled with sorrow, but beneath it I know my journey will be for the better.
Star City - 1 week before Bonding
I emerged in a place that my eyes had never seen. The corridor was of the oddest type - with many devices made of metal inside. I peered outside the nearest window and found that I was - or this place was - drifting among the stars. I was thrown back by shock and fled down the hall, scared out of my mind.
Somehow, whether it was by fate or by accident, I ran into a bay of sorts, meeting up with several adorable dragon pups.
Good morning, one of them bespoke quietly, apparently contacting me with difficulty.
"Why, good morning," I answered, a little bemused at this. "How are you?"
I am well, she told her, and how are you?
"To tell you the truth, I have been rather busy with my life. My brother, you see, he chased be away from my home."
I am sorry to hear that, er... I am sorry, what is your name?
"Why, it is Rowanne," I told her.
And mine is Hora-za, she replied, bowing her head. Pleased to make your acquaintance.
And I knew then that everything was going to be all right.
